22 years protecting heritage: Keeping History Alive since 2004
In 2026, EXPM marks 22 years of work in cultural heritage. Since 2004, we have supported archives, museums and libraries in different parts of the world, always guided by the same mission: Keeping History Alive.
One mission, many collections
Every collection is different. Paper, parchment, photographs, textiles, wood or mixed-media objects react in different ways to their environment, to handling and to the passage of time. That is why our work does not start from a fixed recipe, but from understanding the materials, their condition and the risks they are exposed to.
Over these 22 years, this has been the basis of our approach: listen to each institution, look carefully at its collections and the spaces where they are kept, and only then propose the measures that make sense for that specific case.
What we do
Our work brings together several complementary areas:
- Preventive conservation and consultancy – assessing collections, storage areas and exhibition spaces, and helping institutions define priorities.
- Integrated pest management – inspection, monitoring and prevention, adapted to the risks identified in each building and collection.
- Anoxia treatments – an option for pest treatment that, when appropriate for the materials involved, avoids the use of chemical pesticides.
- Training – sharing good practices with the teams who care for collections every day.
- Conservation materials – storage and conservation materials available through our online store, expmstore.com.
Not every collection needs all of these. The right combination depends on the materials, their condition, the building and the goals of each institution.
Archives, museums and libraries
Archives, museums and libraries share a common responsibility: to preserve their collections and keep them accessible for future generations. Each faces its own challenges, from the volume of documents in an archive to the variety of materials in a museum or the daily use of a library collection. Working across these three contexts has taught us that good decisions come from knowing the collection well and from close collaboration with the people who look after it.
Looking ahead
Twenty-two years on, our commitment remains the same: to contribute, project by project, to the long-term preservation of cultural heritage. We are grateful to the institutions and professionals who have trusted us along the way.
