Integrated Pest Management

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was developed as an alternative to earlier interventive methods of removing insects and other pests from collections. Part of collections care, it focuses less on eliminating active pests and more on preventing them, through monitoring and housekeeping.

Our IPM programme identifies points of vulnerability and seeks preventive solutions. IPM relies on good knowledge of the collection and the building, identifying risks and potential pest targets, and using prevention and the environment to discourage attack.

• Preventive measures to stop pest attack
• Establishing a continuous IPM programme for long-term and short-term results
