Bookbinding Super (Mull) Cotton Cloth approx. 46 × 76 cm
Super – also known as mull, crash or tarlatan – is a strong cotton cloth starched for added stiffness. Traditionally used in bookbinding, it reinforces the spine by securely attaching the signatures while keeping the backbone of the book flexible, and is equally effective for connecting cover boards.
The open weave allows excellent adhesive penetration for a reliable bond favoured by professional bookbinders and conservators. It can also be folded into small pads for cleaning. Pair it with linen binding tape, thread, neutral-pH binder's board and archival adhesives.
