Goldbeaters Skin

Thin transparent membrane, with great tensile strength. Traditionally used as an interleaf for the manufacture of gold leaf, it is also Used for the conservation of parchment and strengthening to books. Also used in miniature conservation to reseal cover glass to backing card. Outside of preservation, Goldbeaters Skin is used to seal the reeds in an oboe.
